A day trip around the valley, which is rich in Cultural Heritage, consisting of seven sights listed in World Heritage List.
A long drive (approximately 8 hrs) on a narrow and rough road but through the beautiful green valleys gets you to a small town situated at the side of the Trishuli River. On the way one passes through many beautiful small villages such as Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche, where one can observe the customs of the people in this area. On the way, we enter the Langtang National Park, where our trekking permits will be checked.
A relatively flat trail following Langtang Khola through the beautiful rhododendron forest for 2.30 hrs, leads you to Bamboo Lodge. From there, it's 2 hrs uphill through nice forest, leading you to Lama Hotel. Lama Hotel consists of some nice lodges and a few houses surrounded by the beautiful green forest, where one can observe some wildlife (especially monkeys).
We keep on following the Langtang Khola and the beautiful green forest. The climb through green forest is full of joy and one can have the first sight of Mt. Langtang II. On the way we pass through couple of rest houses. Just after Ghoratabela (a village at 2.30 hrs walk from Lama Hotel), there is a national park check post where your permits will be checked. From Ghoratabela the green scenery starts disappearing and disappears completely by the time you arrive to Langtang Village, after 5 hrs walking from Lama Hotel. Langtang is a beautiful Tamang Village, where one can notice the influence of Tibetan culture in the life. One can see Mt. Ganchhepo (6387m) and Tsergo Ri (4984m) from there.
It is a 3 hrs walk on a relatively easy grassy trail along Langtang Khola to reach Kyanjin Gompa. A settlement surrounded by the big snow mountains, Kyanjin Ri is right on the north of the village. One can see Mt. Langtang Lirung (7245m), Mt. Khimjung, Mt. Ganchhepo (6387m), and Mt. Naya Kang, from the village.
On 1hr flat trail and 2.30 hrs hard climb, there is Tsergo Ri (4984m). A magnificent 360 degree panorama including Shishapangma (8012m) of Tibet compensates the hard climb that has been done. Yala Peak is right on the north and one can have a look at the Langtang Valley that he/she has been walking through. Afterwards, it's approximately 2.30 hrs to Kyanjin Gompa.
After 30 minutes walk from Kyanjin Gompa, we cross the Langtang Khola and start climbing up through the rhododendron and juniper forest. Finally, the trail reaches the yak pasture of Ngegang, where one can observe the peacefully grazing yaks.
The trail continues south, following streams and moraines and climbs steeply towards the pass. The mountains on the north start to appear as we climb up; the trail makes a final steep ascent to the pass that has breathtaking panoramic view. From the pass, the trail descends steeply and enters the Yangri Khola Valley. Following the stream through grassy meadows, the trail reaches Keldang.
The trail descends a long ridge, making many ups and downs, before heading down to the valley. Then following the ridge line through small settlements, you will reach Dukpu.
From Dukpu the trail descends, and then ascends again to a pass. The pass offers a stunning view of the Himalaya. The trail descends through pine and rhododendron forest, and then drops steeply to Gekye Gompa. Finally, the trail continues its steep descent to the large Sherpa village of Tarke Gyang.
The trail leaves Tarke Gyang and heads off to meet the pretty Sherpa Village, Gangyul (2520m). The trail drops a little bit and climbs through deep forests, crossing a number of streams, before reaching Chumik. Making a gentle climb you come to the large village of Sermathang.
Making a drop, the trail reaches in the settlements of Nigale and Gyalsha and further to Raithani Gyang (2290m). Descending through the pine forest the trek gets to the large fascinating village of Dubha Chaur and finally descending, you will reach Melamchi Bazaar.
